Machine & Systems Technology (MST)
Modern manufacturing is a highly-refined, highly technical field, requiring many skilled specialists. Manufacturing environments shut down quickly without the tradesmen trained to provide specialized attention, design, and maintenance to the sophisticated technological systems inside these facilities.

The Men Who Keep it All Running
A Multi-System Skill Build
Harmel’s MST program is a two-year program which prepares young men to work on full systems within manufacturing and machining environments. With instruction grounded in solid manufacturing theory and deep, practical experience, our students focus on critical thinking through team-oriented, real-world problem solving. Harmel students build a firm foundation in:
- Fluid Power, Electrohydraulics, and Pneumatics
- PLC (Siemens and Allen-Bradley)
- Blueprint Reading and Schematics
- Robotics
- Welding and Fabrication
- Machine Tool Operations
- Controls and Instrumentations
- Basic Electricity and Electronics
- Mechanical Systems/Drives/Power Transmissions
- Safety
- Computer Literacy
- General PM and Predictive Maintenance
- Computer Aided Design and Machining (CAD / CAM)
The Opportunities
The economic demand is very high for skilled, manufacturing professionals, especially if those professionals bring to their careers character, ingenuity, and energy. Harmel’s Machine & Systems Technology Program prepares men for employment in multiple high demand occupations either as skilled machinists, millwrights, or manufacturing service technicians.

“Most trades schools teach only the technical aspects. But Harmel is striving to teach us why we’re doing this. A ton of glory can be brought to God by working with your hands because we are created in his image. In that sense, working with our hands and giving our labor back to God is one of the most fulfilling ways to serve him.”
